Ricky Free – Daywind Music Publishing
Ricky Free was born and raised in a suburb of Atlanta, GA and started playing drums at the age of three. At fifteen, Ricky went on the road to play with his father, Dove Award winning Southern Gospel artist Brian Free & Assurance. So while Ricky played 200+ shows a year, he was being home schooled to allow him to keep up the busy road schedule. Over this time, more opportunities for session work presented themselves. As soon as Ricky was old enough to drive himself he began commuting from Atlanta to Nashville, Tennessee on a regular basis. After almost ten years playing for his father, he decided to move to Nashville to pursue opportunities playing with other artists, playing sessions, and writing and producing full time.
Since then he has toured playing drums with Country artists LeAnn Rimes, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Canaan Smith, Eric Paslay, Kelleigh Bannen, Attwater, High Valley, critically acclaimed British Pop band World Party, Pop artist Mike Viola (the voice behind the movie That Thing You Do!), and many other artists.
Ricky is also an award winning producer and songwriter. With a #1 and a top 5 song to his credit as a writer, Ricky has had songs performed by Mandisa, Brian Free & Assurance, After Edmund, Crawford Crossing, Charlotte Ritchie, Morgan Easter, The Hunters, and many other artists. As a producer, he has won multiple awards personally, has had several Dove Award nominations for his work, multiple #1 songs, and top 10 songs. He resides in Nashville, TN with his wife, Kelly, and son, Jude.
